VirtualDub is an easy to use PC video editing program that runs on Windows. This free movie editing software was developed by Avery Lee, who wanted to make a video capture and processing program for compressing the file size of Anime movies that worked on Windows PCs. Released under a GNU General Public License, VirtualDub can be downloaded for free from the Virtual Dub website.
Unlike many other computer video editing programs for PCs, such as movie editing software Avidemux, VirtualDub is very easy to use. The user interface is clean and intuitive, and applying edits to a video file are quickly and simply achieved.
Video editing in VirtualDub involves loading a movie file into the software. VirtualDub natively supports a variety of video formats, including .AVI, .DIVX, .MPG, .MPV, .AVS and .FLM, and image formats such as .GIF, .PNG and .JPG. Free plugins can be downloaded to extend the range of supported video file types to include Flash video, WMV and ASF, MP4 and QuickTime video.
